Freestanding Fridges: The Wine Cooler You Can Put Anywhere
If you’ve reached the maximum capacity in the kitchen fridge and are searching for a convenient, versatile wine cooler to effortlessly store your favorite bottles, then a freestanding wine refrigerator may just be the ideal solution for you.
Unlike built-in wine coolers, these refrigerators are designed for quick, standalone installations which makes them the perfect storage solution that accommodates a multitude of different settings. Offered by many different brands, these multi-functional wine fridges vary in style, storage capacities, features and finishes, so you’ll have no problem narrowing down the top models for your space.
Why You Should Consider A Freestanding Fridge
Whether you are hosting an event or just want a convenient way to store a few bottles of wine close by, a freestanding wine fridge is an adaptable appliance that provides unwarranted flexibility to your lifestyle. All you need is an outlet to plug it into and a few bottles to put inside. While these refrigerators can be installed virtually anywhere, it’s important to make sure there’s enough room for proper ventilation. Standalone wine coolers feature back-vented engineering in order to pull warm exhaust away from the system and prevent overheating.
Like other types of wine coolers, freestanding models are available in a wide variety of styles, finishes and storage capacities. Whether you need a small unit to hold just a few bottles or a large fridge to store hundreds of bottles of wine, we are confident you will find a freestanding model that can accommodate your needs while creating the best environment to age your wine.
Options & Features to Consider
Freestanding models feature either thermoelectric or compressor-based cooling technology, and depending on your lifestyle, one may be more beneficial than the other. Compressor-based systems supply powerful cooling and are commonly found in large capacity refrigerators. Additionally, this type of wine cooler can withstand frequent ambient climate changes while maintaining consistent interior temperatures, despite the extra heat loads. Some wine coolers support both freestanding or undercounter installations, so you can find the best unit for any application.
If you are looking for a smaller, more energy-conscious storage alternative—a thermoelectric-based system may be perfect for your needs. Thermoelectric coolers utilize fewer moving parts which require less power to operate, and even reduce the amount of vibrations that can affect how the wine ages.
Keeping multiple types of wine stored under the best possible conditions can be easily achieved with a multi-zone or side by side wine cooler. Engineered with independent climate controls to cool your bottles to precise conditions, these advanced refrigeration units are ideal choices for storing red, white, and sparkling wines all within the same appliance.
Harsh light and harmful UV rays can alter the chemical makeup of your wine, ruining its taste and quality all together. Show off your impressive wine collection while preventing harmful damage from ultraviolet light by investing in a cooler with double-paned, tempered glass. We offer an assortment of units with options for reversible, French, mirrored, or solid panel doors, so you can choose the perfect style for your home. Complement your dining room with a platinum or stainless steel-finished cooler that matches any set of kitchenware, or upgrade your living space with a bold, French-swing wine fridge that uses unique interior lighting to enhance any display.
Finding the Best Freestanding Wine Cooler For You
With the added flexibility of being easy to move—and even easier to set up—a freestanding wine fridge will provide years of versatile use. Offering intuitive features like automatic restart and Energy Saver mode, along with digital-touch control panels and factory-installed safety locks, there are an endless amount of possibilities for even the most compact spaces.

General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
